24″ x 36″
December 2007
This quilt was created for an invitational Living Colour traveling exhibit for the Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters. I created this quit using a digital image by my friend, Dan Neil, with his permission. Using Adobe Photoshop, I enhanced the photograph and printed it poster size onto sixteen computer ready fabric sheets. I incorporated overlays of shredded batting and Angelina to help camouflage the joining lines. I also cut away the printed sky and inserted a commercial fabric I had to further camouflage joining lines. I had a blast using Tsukineko inks, fabric markers, and wax pastels for subtle shading, especially on the logs floating in the foreground. Extensive thread-play further enhances the design. This quilt traveled with the exhibit until 2010 and was auctioned at Quilt Fest in August of 2010.
